Supporting Local Carers
💙 PLEASE HELP ME HELP OUR LOCAL CARERS 💙
Twice a month for the past 6 years I have worked at the Tower Hamlets Carers Centre https://ccth.org.uk/ providing massage treatments for our most forgotten about Carers of adults.
These carers are the most selfless people I have ever met, people who have had their lives turned upside down illness or disability, who struggle daily with the emotional turmoil that that entails. They could be supporting a family member, a partner, friend or neighbour. Most of these wonderful people are actually working for more like 24 hours a day caring for their sick loved ones but also caring for their the rest of their family as well and most do this for little or no pay at all.

Did you know that to qualify for a meagre allowance of £67.25 a per week they have to prove that they do this work for a minimum of 35hours per week, that’s £1.92 per hour and if they have a second job and earn more than £128 per week they don’t qualify, so most of them are generally unpaid carers, it seems farcical but it is fact!
They have been severely affected during this new crisis with all their usual places of refuge like the twice monthly Therapy and Relaxation Day at the carers centre taken away so they can self isolated and protect their loved ones. They need connection more then ever
Now whilst I cannot provide massage services at the this time I would like to find a way to let them know we care.
And whilst we can all do the most important thing right now... Stay AT HOME, Protect the NHS, Save Lives. But I would love to do more.

Neal’s Yard Remedies as a company are doing lots to provide care packages to various hospital locations but in addition to this many NYR Organic consultants like myself are doing what we can to say thank you as well and to recognise all the extra work that is not getting screen time 🌈
